Final Project

For my final project I decided to come up with different physical education games from all over the world. This project is actually running throughout the whole academic school year. The purpose of this project is to get my third grade students physically active, to have the students listen to me speak in English, to get them to speak in English and to get them to work in teams. Not only this, but they are also getting some culture backgrounds from places outside of the United States and Spain.

I found approximately 13 different games which are:

  • Tchoukball – Switzerland
  • Elf Express – Germany
  • Handball – Denmark
  • Capture the Flag – America
  • Statue – Greece
  • WA – Canada
  • Skippyroo Kangaroo – Australia
  • Pilolo – Ghana
  • Ounch Neech – Pakistan
  • Corre, Corre, la Guaraca – Chile
  • Red light Green light – UK
  • Dragon Snakes – Indonesia
  • Prisoner of War – USA

I created a powerpoint to present to my third graders to give them a heads up on what to expect. At the end of the presentation I asked them if they had any other P.E. ideas, but they gave me the more common sports such as: Soccer, basketball, etc. One of the most favorite games so far has been Prisoner of War. All students were super involved and asked me to play this game with them later on in the year. My role as an LA is simply to explain the rules to the students while the teacher makes sure they are following all the rules and running the games. The supplies/materials needed for these games are multiple balls of different sizes, hula hoops, flags, playgrounds and a court.
